The Lyttelton/Hart-Davis Letters: Correspondence of George Lyttelton and Rupert Hart-Davis, 1955-56
Published in Hardcover by Academy Chicago Pub (June, 1984)
Author: George Lyttelton
Average review score:

The full series of letters are completely satisfying.
Both my husband and I have enjoyed these letters thoroughly. The wit and humor and gentle humanity make them highly recommendable. Hart-Davis was a publisher and Lyttelton a retired Eton English teacher, and anyone who cares for books will love these.

The Maestro
Published in Paperback by Bethany House (June, 1991)
Author: T. Davis Bunn
Average review score:

Life Changing
T. Davis Bunn is one of the best Christian fiction authors alive today. I have enjoyed all of his books, and been challenged by many of them, but the Maestro is one of his best. Telling the story of God's calling a very gifted musician to Himself, almost against the musician's will. One of the issues this book raises is how we, as Christians, view "our" gifts. Do we consider them our's or God's? If you can get this book then do so, it took me three months (well, it took Amazon three months -- I just sat back and let them do the searching) but it was worth it. God Bless.

The Magic of Our Universe: Beyond the Facts
Published in Paperback by Camelot Publishing Co (01 May, 1999)
Author: Kent Davis Moberg
Average review score:

wonderful descriptive take on the not so far beyond
Great detail on the author's beliefs, backed up by research on the publicity and the cover ups. This book brings pulsing excitement to a topic which has been too covered with hokerstism. I'm excited about the possibility about this author's next book. Really Inspiring.

Must have for horse folks young and old
For anyone who loves horses, "Magical Mac" should be on the shelf. For anyone who believes in magic, "Magical Mac" is a delight. Suitable for any age child or adult, it is a beautiful story that will bring chills ... the spiritual kind of chills that let you know there is magic and there is a God.

Make textured and Stucco Walls With Designer Faux Finishes
Published in Paperback by Karen Davis Publications (01 July, 2001)
Author: Karen Ann Davis
Average review score:

Faux finishes made easy
This book has detailed step by step instructions for beautiful and unique walls and finishes. The pictures accompanying each step make it extremely easy to follow.

My husband and I followed Ms. Davis' directions to create a beautiful new texture for our bathroom walls. When people come to visit they are "wowed" by the unique look we were able to achieve. We are planning to do a second bathroom, following her tips, to achieve a different look than the first.

I highly recommend this book.

Make Your Own Teddy Bears & Bear Clothes (Quick Starts for Kids!)
Published in Paperback by Williamson Publishing (June, 2003)
Authors: Sue Mahren, Jodie Davis, Stan Jaskiel, and Anna Hoffman
Average review score:

This is a terrific book for making your first teddy bear!
This book is recommended for ages 10 and up but as an adult I found it exciting and useful as well as a child would. There are step by step instructions on how to make a 16 inch teddy bear (which is rather large) in clear and concise instructions. The first part teaches you how to make a teddy bear much like a cookie cut out in just one piece. The second part details how to make a 16 inch teddy bear. The last part of the book illustrates how to make simple clothes to dress your bear.

There are informational boxes scattered throughout to explain the terms used like how to make a dart. I found the instructions to be readily understood and I successfully made my first teddy bear.

The only drawback is that the only color photo is on the cover of the book. The book only contains black and white line drawings inside. It would have been helpful to have had more photos to use as a guide.

The Mammals of Texas
Published in Paperback by Texas Parks & Wildlife Dept (March, 1995)
Authors: William B. Davis and David J. Schmidly
Average review score:

The Classic of Southwest Mammalology
This book is a classic reference -- it's been around for a long time, and will probably continue to be around for quite some time to come. I all but slept with it under my pillow during my college days, and now, decades later, I still frequently refer to it. Every subspecies of every wild mammal found in the Lone Star State, from mice to buffalo, is covered here in painstaking detail: feeding and breeding habits, distribution (including maps), population status, very good photographs, and relationship to human society (game animal, crop pest, etc.) is all here. Due to the size and geographic location of Texas, the animals covered in this book range over many habitats from desert to woodlands to subtropical seas -- making it a useful reference tool for zoological study in almost any area of the United States.

A Man to Trust (Silhouette Intimate Moments, No 805)
Published in Paperback by Harlequin (September, 1997)
Author: Justine Davis
Average review score:

The 3rd installment of the cops from Trinity Street West.
Each year, Detective Cruz Gregerson has gone to Kelsey Hall's country inn for a week's vacation. Only this time, Kelsey's nervous & hiding something from him. Experience had taught Kelsey Hall that cops won't to bend the rules for anyone or anything, & cannot be trusted. When the runaway she'd been harboring disappeared, Cruz offered to help her. Can Kelsey set aside her preconceptions long enough to see him as a man, not just a cop?

Ms. Davis weaves a lovely tale full of emotions that will grab you from the start. I loved the scenes where Cruz is shown to be a wonderful father who grudgingly tolerates even 'that damn snake' because he loves his daughter.

Get the entire series in order: It started with Quisto Romero in "Lover Under Cover," followed by Ryan Buckhart & Lacey in "Leader of the Pack," which for me is the best of the lot. Up next time is "Gage Butler's Reckoning", Kit & the chief in "Badge of Honor" & finally that long-awaited legend "Clay Yeager's Redemption." Also recommended is the prequel of the Trinity West saga--"One Last Chance."

Man-Made Catastrophes: From the Burning of Rome to the Lockerbie Crash
Published in Hardcover by Facts on File, Inc. (February, 1993)
Author: Lee Allyn Davis
Average review score:

good book but contains some factual errors
This book is very good in that it contains coverage of so many historical disasters. Its flaw is that it also has quite a number of mistakes. Some of the figures and facts are totally incorrect.
